The GTC 2024 will return to the in-person event, following 3 years of virtual conference experience. The GTC is actually a series of events for developers that take place in many places around the world, but the spring keynote in San Jose is the most important one. The GTC typically focuses on data-centers and workstations, but with the focusing now shifting completely towards AI, the company is expected to deliver updates for its next-gen GPGPU (General Purpose GPU) accelerators.
Currently, one should expect updates on Blackwell, NVIDIA’s next-gen architecture. Last year was focused on updates for Hopper, with even more powerful H200 and GH200 accelerators being formally introduced. NVIDIA has already confirmed that their 2024-2025 roadmap will focus on Blackwell, namely the B100 and GB200 products which were listed in recent roadmaps.
The official preview video highlights Generative AI like the WPP/NVIDIA engine for digital advertising, the newly introduced Chat with RTX, an industrial metaverse powered by SyncTwin, AI art from Refik Anadol Studio, and OpenAI creating code for Blender animations.
In the past, GTC hasn’t really looked at consumer graphics, and it seems like this event will follow that trend. Nevertheless, there have been instances, like GTC 2014, when NVIDIA did feature a high-end GPU, such as the TITAN Z series.
